Branding and content design for a singer-songwriter.


Phil Vassar is an artist, songwriter, entertainer, and 2x ASCAP Songwriter of the Year with 10 # 1 singles and 27 Top 40 hits. His songwriting career blossomed in the mid-’90s when he penned hits for Alan Jackson, Tim McGraw, Jo Dee Messina, and many more. He signed a record deal of his own with Arista in 1998, was named ASCAP’s Country Songwriter of the Year in 1999 and 2001, and the rest is history.

We met at a soccer game and our goal was to realign his brand to match his larger-than-life personality. After a few short rounds, we landed on a solid and functional but elegant brand for him, as well as a more sustained battle between expression and simplicity for his tours and album artwork.

Once we got his overarching brand aligned, we strategized and branded current tours, upcoming events and music releases. Below are a selection of projects I’ve built for him, as well as a shortlist of my favorite albums, tour campaigns and social content I have designed over the past few years.

IMPACT

Net audience growth of 438%

With the alignment of the new brand, we saw a net audience growth of 438%. We also saw a lift in Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon streams along with an increase of subscribers on BandsInTown.
